Become a Friend of the Coromandel Rescue Helicopter Trust, to help ensure that a Rescue Helicopter’s help will be near you when & if you or your family or friends may need it.
The Coromandel Rescue Helicopter Trust (CRHT) was formed in 2012 and since that time has established a hangar facility for the helicopter at the Whitianga Airfield along with an adjoining house for the crew whilst based in Whitianga. The facility provides a general base for the Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust (ARHT).
With the ARHT providing the majority of the rescue missions to the Coromandel Peninsula it was obvious that a permanent base was established from which the helicopter could operate from, particularly over the peak the summer period as the population in this area increases, so does the demand on rescue services.
The trust raises funds to cover the costs associated with operating the facility along with the overall rescue helicopter operational costs.
Our Vision
Donations are the life line for the rescue service with operational costs running at approximately $8,000.00 per hour for each helicopter whilst on a mission.
The Trust aims to continue its support in ensuring the wider region continues to have year-round access to and benefit from the services provided by the Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust.
